Operational Structure

Red Coat Waste Resource Authority (RCWRA) is a non-profit, regionally owned and operated corporation.  In a nut-shell, RCWRA is operated by the municipalities, towns and villages which form the membership. All funds recieved by the Authority return to the member municipalities and communities in the form of waste transportation, recycle transportation, operator employment, transfer station/landfill maintenance, office administration, landfill expansion, and operational best practices.   Each member community brings strength and opportunity to the region as a whole, benefiting not only themselves, but their neighbours as well. RCWRA is a viable solution for communities attempting to control climbing costs of waste and recycling handling while providing required services to rate-payers. RCWRA adopts a strong belief in waste reduction through easy to use, efficient recycling services and solutions.

Ethical Standards

RCWRA is an environmentally conscientious operation whose roots grew out of the desire to promote and encourage recycling.  Recycling is offered to all members.  RCWRA is directly accountable to the Ministry of Environment and strives to be compliant in all areas of the Permit to Operate.  Hazardous wastes are not accepted at the RCWRA landfill or the member transfer stations.  Only burning of clean wood is accepted.  The landfills are covered and compacted three times per week preventing wind-blown debris and to prevent rodent-problems.  Being a responsible neighbour to adjacent land owners is of great value. Groundwater sampling is conducted 2 times per year to monitor against ground water contamination.  Proudly, the members see compliance to such standards as essential and appropriate.

Board Representatives

RCWRA is managed by a board of directors elected from within the member communities. Click here to find the current Board of Directors. 

Transfer Station

RCWRA will assist the member communities in the operation of their transfer stations

Waste & Recycle Transportation

Loraas Disposal is in contract with RCWRA for residential garbage pick up as well as residential recycling pick up. This is accomplished by each residence having a garbage and a recycling roll out cart. Garbage and recycling are picked up on an alternating weekly basis. There is also a system of  transfer station garbage bins and recycle bins in various communities. 

Operations Manager

The manager is in position to handle the day to day operations of Red Coat Waste Resource Authority as well as the questions, concerns and suggestions of the rate-payers, acting as a communicator between the members and the board.

Economical

The operation of RCWRA is an economical, systematic, regional solution to problems faced by all communities, waste and recycling.  It is economical because a region has decided to share the cost of waste management versus each member community struggling to fund its own waste management system while attempting to meet increasing regulatory standards and escalating costs.
